Producing large swaths of text to put on the internet is easier than it has ever been, and so now, we're in a strange reality where we need to talk about how writing is sourced, like it was a coffee bean or a blood diamond.

First off, let me authoritatively state that, to our knowledge, nobody was hurt in the sourcing of the words on this page. Perhaps the creation of individual words was quite chaotic, as often happens with language, but the arrangement of those words herein was specifically a no-violence endeavor. No child labor was used, outside of feline emotional support, which is commonly understood to be symbiotic in nature and morally acceptable.

The words published herein are the exclusive product of the author's mind and displayed for your pleasure and enjoyment. I believe that writing can be, in it's truest form, a relationship. You are reading what is here, either because you are interested in me as a human, or you are interested in my perspective. I hold this relationship in the highest regard.

To quote the incomparable Cory Doctorow, "opposing the statistical inference techniques we call AI is weird". Statistical inference is a marvelous new technology with incredible applications to my own work. This site will talk at length about artificial intelligence and what's going on.

However, I will never use AI to directly produce the words that you are reading. The act of representing AI words as my own is an act of deception (read: lying) and an affront to the relationship I want to build with my readers.

AI may be used as a research tool to identify sourced information. My brain is full of things I've heard and sometimes they're hard to find on the internet and link back. I'll do my best. We're all just doing our best.

As of this writing, I have no goal for this blog other than to write some stuff and share it on the internet in a form that isn't controlled by large multi-national corporation. I hope you enjoy it.
